Response to the article “Why Every Designer Needs to Master Adaptability“:
Great article, Sam.
Graphic design, more than almost any profession I can think of, has so radically changed, and continues to change with no normalization in sight.
When I was in college, my portfolio was entirely hand-painted. Mostly hand-lettered. Yes, you read that right. Few designers back then designed on computers. About the time I got my degree, I found I had to learn new skills fast. I’ve had to have that mindset for the past 35 years.
But know that as technology, society, expectations and such will always change, principles remain the same. Being able to solve clients’ problems with thoughtful design solutions will always be in fashion, no matter how you get them done.
