Big corporations, especially oil and gas giants, try their very best to promote safety in the workplace. Shell is no exception.
The graphic design for the 2009 North American Safety Day was pushed over from a design office in the UK. It consisted of these little cartoony characters doing various things. It was dictated that they were mandatory to use in all the communication pieces for the campaign.
Rather than just using the drawings alone with a safety message, carefully crafted messages were woven to tell a little story about a dangerous situation, and to get employees to be thinking about safety in every moment of every day.
These cartoons became bold, arresting graphics and formed the backbone to an effective and successful Safety Day at Shell.
